Our ranking algorithm is proprietary, and it's designed so the title is earned on merit. You can't become Dog of the Year simply by entering every show on the calendar — and you can't win it by being selective either. However your season looks, it's built to reward genuine competitive success.

Every placing in a breed class earns points, from 1st through 3rd, Reserve, and Very Highly Commended.

CC & RCC

Challenge Certificates

Both the Challenge Certificate and Reserve Challenge Certificate count — the certificates that build towards a UK Show Championship.

BOB

Best of Breed

Top dog or bitch of the breed on the day, going forward to represent it in the group ring.

G1–G4

Group placings

Placing in the top four of your breed group — Gundog, Terrier, Toy, and so on.

RBIS

Reserve Best in Show

Runner-up across every group winner at the show.

BIS

Best in Show

Top dog of the entire show, across every breed and group. The biggest points swing on the board.
